QUAL PREP TRAINING

Many agencies have an annual or biannual qualification requirement. Civ1 Defense's former LE instructors will help prepare you for qualification. Whether it's a refresher of fundamentals or diagnostic of mechanics while shooting, we can help you prepare. Qual prep can consist of small groups or private instruction. Contact us for scheduling or other related questions.

Qualifications are a test of marksmanship and weapon manipulation,
they are not representative of how an officer will perform
in a deadly force encounter.

STRESS INDUCED
TRAINING

Qual requirements are standard for all LE agencies. Quals take place in a controlled environment, with scripted, non-stressful (other than your personal anxiety about passing) course of fire. For many, this is the only time you fire your weapon. Quals in no circumstances can prepare you for a critical incident where you have to draw your weapon and fire in the line of duty.

Numerous studies of officer involved shooting data have shown that officers who have only conducted required qualifications have an approximate 34% hit rate (i.e. only 3.4 shots hit the intended target while 6.6 went elsewhere). The data also shows that officers who received advanced training where stress was induced during course of fire significantly outperformed officers who did not receive advanced training.

Civ1 instructors introduce varying levels of stress upon participants during each course of fire, where the stages and scenarios increase in difficulty. It is encouraged that you perform with whatever weapon you carry on your person, as well as patrol rifle/shotgun that may be in your vehicle. It is also recommended that you be dressed in full duty gear and vest, if issued.

TRAINING DAYS/TIMES CAN BE COORDINATED WITH YOUR CHIEF OR DEPARTMENT HEAD,
