I am a grandmother in my mid 60s and I am a novice firearm owner. I experienced an incident several weeks ago that proved to be the push needed for me to get serious about solid training with my firearm. Within a week after my incident, an appointment was made for private instruction and Steve became my training instructor, immediately putting me at ease and listening to “my story”. He emphasized to me that everyone has a story and our stories are important. Steve’s instruction is clear, concise, and compassionate. He has a passion for teaching people to feel confident in their abilities/skills for self defense. After just two lessons so far, I am much more comfortable with my firearm and my skills are improving. Additional lessons are “in my sights”! My wife and I hired Steve to teach us how to handle the pistols we purchased for each other this past Christmas. Both of us were novices when it came to guns and needed basic training and handling of the guns. Steve was the right guy. His training was easy to understand, and thorough. We ended up taking a second class from him just to refresh what we were taught in the first lesson. Steve was very patient with us in the shooting range and made simple suggestions to improve our skills. We feel very comfortable with our pistols now and have Steve to thank for this. My husband and I met with Steve for a firearms safety class to learn how to handle our firearm and to shoot our Taurus revolver which we had never done. Although I am not accustomed to handling guns, Steve’s instructions prior to shooting helped me to be more confident.
I learned at this class that this firearm was not the proper one for me. My husband could shoot it well but I lagged behind and Steve was more than willing for us to come back and help me find a better weapon suited for me by, once again, handling a firearm and shooting it.
We took a concealed weapons class in 2017 and we had forgotten a lot of information but it was comforting to learn again with such a patient instructor. We have made another appointment with Steve and look forward to his great attitude and expertise in learning how to handle a dangerous weapon in this self-defense training course.
